17 October 2006 - Feel Peace Day
By Michael Brown

Author of The Presence Process. In 1989 South African-born, Michael Brown, developed an acutely painful neurological condition called Horton’s Syndrome. As Michael's quest to find relief unfolded, he began entering "present moment awareness"; a paradigm of heightened consciousness that appeared to be running parallel to the conventional and mundane world experience. He discovered that his repeated entry into this enlivened state of Being, which he accomplished through ceremonial practice and conscious breathing, resulted in a decrease of his own painful condition to the point that it subsided completely.

Oct 17, 2006 - 2:35:00 PM

Michael BrownGreetings,

Many of us have received an email recently explaining that today is a significant day; that our thoughts today are multiplied one million times - creating an opportunity for increased peace, or chaos, depending on what we embody. Apparently this celestial event commences wherever we are on the planet at 10.17PM on 17 October 2006, peaks at 17.10Hrs (5.10PM approximately) and concludes at 10.17AM on October 18 2006.

This is a powerful claim to make. Whether it is true or not, the fact is that now there are many, many human beings behaving as consciously as possible today - intending to make a beneficial difference. We are told that the consequences of our thoughts on this day multiply 1000 000 times and therefore have the capacity to change the course of planetary events. If this is true, this may leave many of us feeling a little overwhelmed!

We already know how chaotic our thoughts are on the best of days and how our emotions seemingly run on autopilot into states of drama that definitely do not serve us or anyone else. Many of us will be at work during the first half of this experience, in rush hour traffic during the peak moment of the opportunity, and then get home weary and finally sound asleep for the concluding moments. If for a moment we can accept that this event is real, how do we make best use of it? How can we place our head on the pillow tonight feeling we played our part in steering humanity into increasing awareness?

The first step is realizing we are only responsible for our own experience of this world. Sitting around visualizing peace for everyone else smacks of arrogance. Do we know what is best for another human being when we haven’t yet mastered our own experience? So, we can begin by taking responsibility for what we are responsible for; our personal experience of this world.

Responsibility must be personally wielded to be collectively efficient.

The second step is realizing that the causal point of our experience is not our thoughts or our physical circumstances; it is our feeling content. This may not be obvious to us if our emotional body awareness is shut down. Yet, it becomes obvious if we spend a moment contemplating what peace really is. Peace is definitely not a physical circumstance that can be enforced through re-arrangement of outer conditions. If this were the case our politicians would have accomplished peace long ago. Peace is also not a mental concept attained through mental discussion and drawing up of debated manifestos. If this were the case The United Nations would have accomplished peace long ago. Peace is a feeling. When we feel at peace this feeling automatically radiates into our thought processes and our physical circumstances.

Unless we feel at peace we are not at peace.

The third step is realizing we are all endowed with the same tools that brought this entire creation into being and which sustain it as our ongoing experience of it; intention and attention. Through the wielding of our intention and attention we all personally manifest the quality of our ongoing life experience.

Our attention and intention, when wielded consciously, know no order of difficulty.

Therefore, if we are to accomplish anything real and lasting today, it is through taking full responsibility for our personal experience by using our intention and attention to manifest a feeling of peace within our experience right NOW, and then by using our intention and attention to project this experience into our future NOW’s. As long as we request “a feeling” when doing this, a feeling that we can feel NOW, and as long as we steer clear of details and concepts, and of interfering with others experiences by assuming we know what is best for them, we succeed.

By using our intention and attention efficiently in this manner, we do not have to spend the entire 24-hour period in meditation; we only have to enter our manifestation exercise briefly at random moments, and if we choose, at the critical juncture of 5.10PM, wherever we are on the planet when the clock strikes that moment. This approach is easy, effortless, and by doing this we may go to sleep knowing we wielded the full force of our creative ability in a manner that transforms our personal experience, and through the principle of Divine Alchemy, therefore has a transformative impact on all in whose company we move.

By way of contributing to this occasion, a simple contemplation exercise is offered here that can be done by all no matter where we are and what we are doing. Even if we do not believe this particular moment in time and space is endowed with the power to “shift our collective human experience through accessing personal responsibility”, by now so many of us are participating in this event as to endow it with such power.

Also, if we personally missed the day, remember, our authentic essence is not confined by time and space. To compensate we place our awareness in a moment we recall moving through on 17 October 2006 and do the following contemplation exercise from that point – it counts. We can project our intention and attention into past NOW’s as efficiently as we can into future NOW’s.

Let us take a moment to wield our birthright of Divine Alchemy:

To Do Unto Ourselves As We Would Have Others Do.

Peace Contemplation Exercise:

  1. We remember a moment in our life experience when we felt at peace, or joyful, or simply at ease and content. What we are to access through this memory is the quality of “the feeling” we had in that moment.

  1. We feel this feeling NOW.

  1. We intend this feeling for ourselves as a state of being we enter increasingly from this point onward. As we do this we make sure we feel this state of peace NOW.

  1. We place our attention on the date 21 December 2012. (Simply bring the date to mind.)

  1. We intend that as we awaken on that day we have mastered our human incarnation to the extent that we are completely at peace within ourselves, within our family, and within your community.

  1. We take a moment to appreciate ourselves for caring enough to remember what peace feels like and to responsibly seed, nurture, and propogate this state of being throughout our unfolding life experience.

Throughout the day, and at the critical moment of 5.10PM, we effortlessly “feel peace” and intend this for ourselves, NOW and increasingly into our future NOW’s. It is this simple. Less complicated is always more efficient. By feeling what we intend for ourselves without becoming sidetracked by details, concepts, or physical circumstances, we go right to the heart of the matter; the causal point of our experience. This is the most efficient use of our intention and attention; it is causal, clear, and non-interfering.

Thank you for reading this letter and for taking any time you have to feel at peace today and to project this feeling of peace into your, and hence our, unfolding, collective experience. We are the difference we make. We are the peace we seek to manifest. We are the source of all that is peaceful, loving, and kind. We are responsible for our experience. No one is coming to save us. Today is an opportunity to act from this point of awareness and to embrace the responsibility for harmoniously nurturing this beautiful gift of life we are graced with.

Peace is with us always when we bring it from within

And place it into our experience of this world.

Feel peace

Appreciate peace

Go in peace

Be peace

In Gratitude,

Michael Brown.
