His philosophy could be summarised in this phrase: "Capture the essence and translate the desire of my client by avoiding misinterpretations and to respect the character and the spirit of the place." He prefers to create either a very pure environment, or a traditional and grand style. He says that "The most important thing is to create something for my client that both reflects his aspirations and my knowledge, and then to bring the project to a mutually gratifying conclusion. This is when I feel I have succeeded." We asked Georges how he deals with new projects, he said: “The way I approach each potential job is to start sketching my ideas. It is always the location of the project and its spirit that inspires me. My last assignment was a very special one, a fort in the desert somewhere in the Middle East. Outside the building were all the ingredients needed to stimulate and inspire me. The magic and the beauty of the surroundings made it easy to find ideas for the interior architecture and the colours. I followed my first instinct, which was to go with the flow and respect the fundamental elements of the local architecture and traditions, just adding my savoir-faire and my experience of almost 20 years; treating the whole place with the same artistic vocabulary, without falling into monotony or repetition. I have picked up many references from Islamic architecture from Morocco to Asia and blended them together; in this case the results were both unexpected and original. Quite a lot of the interior furniture was custom-made; the palette of colours was a reflection of the fierce heat and the force of the sea of sand that stretched away, beyond the horizon: fiery colours, cooled by natural earthy tonality, enhanced the rugged beauty of the place. "I see myself as an environmentally friendly designer, always tending to feel the place and to respect its personality, not hesitating to operate on features when required in order to improve the esthetical result.
