Dougall Fraser grew up in Garden City, Long Island, where he anguished over whether he was psychic or psychotic. Since the age of 14, he has been counselling and forecasting for people from all walks of life. After being thrust into the public eye when the Dallas Observer crowned him "The Best Psychic in Dallas," Fraser went on to share his hair-raising predictions on hundreds of television and radio shows around the world. Dougall retains a thriving private practice in New York City, where he lives with his boyfriend, David.

In this interview, Dougall shares personal insights with our readers, and tells more about his forst book, But You Knew That Already, What a Psychic Can Teach You About Life, which will go on sale on April 5th. This is what Larry King said about his book: "Rising psychic star Dougall Fraser has written a fascinating and illuminating memoir -- revealing in more ways than one."

P.S. 'There is so much in a name,' what does your first name mean? Favourite colour? Soul number (sum of the digits of your date of birth reduced to numbers between 1 and 9. example: 12.04.1956 = 1+2+4+1+9+5+6=3+4+3=1)

Dougall: I am not quite sure of the literal meaning of my name. I am named after my grandfather, Dougall Charles Fraser.  As a child, I wasn't able to appreciate the importance and honour of being named after someone.  But as an adult, I have come to really love my name. My favourite colour would be ocean blue.  My soul number is (6)

P.S. Why do you do what you do? When did you start? And what is in it for you-personally?

Dougall: I have been a practicing psychic for ten years.  On a daily basis, I am lucky enough to look into the lives of people from around the world. I never intended for this to be my job.  It started as a hobby, something I was interested in learning about.  In many ways this career has found me.  On a personal level, working with intuition with my clients helps me have stronger connections with friends and loved ones.

P.S. A Turning point: Was there a teacher, a book, or an event that inspired/influenced what you do, or started you on your path?

Dougall: My spiritual path started at a very young age.  My mother was always a bit of a self help junkie.  Her enthusiasm and support are really what gave me the confidence to explore my intuitive abilities.

P.S. An unusual, special or extraordinary memory of an experience that still sticks in your mind? What was the significance of it for you, etc. (something that you do not mind sharing)?

Dougall: At the age of 15, I was lucky enough to hold my grandfather's hand as he left his body.  My sister and I sat on opposite sides of the hospital bed, quietly waiting as he took his last breath.  In an instant, I saw a huge explosion of royal purple light burst from the top of his head.  This purple light danced around the room for about 30 seconds and faded away.  It was an extraordinary experience to be that close to someone's transition

P.S. What are you working on currently, and what is your next project?

Dougall: At the moment I am focusing on my first book, But You Knew That Already, What a Psychic Can Teach You About Life. I am about to embark on my first book tour.

P.S. A favourite book/quote you were inspired/influenced by?

Dougall: I have two books that fall into the favourite category.  A Return To Love by Marianne Williamson.  I love her voice and her message.  And, Naked by David Sedaris, it’s just a great read.

P.S. You are going on a much deserved holiday, what treasured items are you most likely to always pack and take with you?

Dougall: Good question, for a holiday I always require a good novel, suntan lotion, and a passport.

P.S. What would you like to be when you 'grow up'?

Dougall: Blissful.

P.S. When you are not working, how do you have fun?

Dougall: When I am not working my partner and I "veg out" watching America's Next Top Model.  There's only so much time I can spend in the cosmos.  I need a little "reality".

P.S. If there is a next life, what would you choose to come back as? Why?

Dougall: I am totally looking forward to coming back to this planet and have no attachment to race, sex or location next time.  I like the surprise of it all!

P.S. If there is no next life, how do you imagine you would be spending your time 'up there' anyway?

Dougall: Eating -- in my heaven calories won't count!
