Learning The Ancient Wisdom of Light Language
By Mia Hansson

The blurb on the poster said "Light Language, the ancient wisdom of the Mayan and Aztecs, is the language of your aura. It is the language in which every thought and feeling is expressed with words of colours and sacred geometry."  It all sounded very pretty, but I had no idea what it really meant.  We were there simply because our intuition had said 'yes' to the adverts in Kindred Spirit and Cygnus; or because we'd met the teacher, Kirke, and liked her teaching style.

There were only four other participants in the workshop. It was holiday season, plus the spiritual workshop market in London is competitive to those who haven't yet published a best-seller. It was refreshing to see that in terms of ages, colours, and gender we were as diverse as was possible - but I did worry whether I'd have the patience to work with people so different from me, over three whole days...

I was delighted to find that the workshop was nothing less than a language class.  "Light Language", it turned out, wasn't a fluffy poetic term - it really is another language. Systematically, as if studying a list of vocabulary, we learned about simple shapes at first - triangles, squares, spheres, diamonds -  and the meanings that they held.  Then we learned how to create sentences and, eventually, whole stories. As we studied and coloured each corner and curve, I was brought back to the fairy stories I loved as a child, where the princess would discover caves full of gems and riches.  At the time I worried I was being materialistic, but alas - metaphorically, I find that these gems are the keys to the auric world.

Thankfully, a Light Language dictionary was included in the workshop price! There were shapes for developing your connection to Source; for grounding; for increasing communication.  As you get more advanced, you learn shape sequences to heal, for example, specific cardiac conditions.

There wasn't time to be sceptical about its efficacy, as we had our hands full constructing sentences with our new vocabulary.  It was certainly an improvement on French grammar lessons - while my intuition thinks traditional grammar is totally unnecessary, it just soaked up these drawings and colours, and did half my work for me while I just relaxed and had fun.

Meanwhile, the issues that each participant was dealing with in his/her life came to the surface.  As in many workshops over several days, we were able to place our concerns in the middle of the group and off-load our own shoulders for a while.  Despite the lessons running from 10am to 7pm throughout a long weekend, we felt refreshed every morning. By Sunday evening, answers had arisen to many of our questions.  I also loved the fact that I was connecting to people whom I'd thought were so different from me.

Another interesting side-effect for me while learning Light Language was that ordinary tasks, such as walking to work or writing emails, seemed significantly quicker and more fluid than they had before. But I doubt this was a side effect: on the first day, we had learned to write and activate a "personal grid" consisting of seven coloured symbols, which correspond to each major chakra. Each symbol corresponded to what we wanted to improve in that chakra. For example, for my root chakra I decided on a particular cube which would stabilise my connection and help me be more down-to-earth. But for my throat chakra, I chose a cylindrical symbol that would energise and speed up all my communications - thus the super-speedy travel and emails!

Our teacher, Kirke, said that Light Language had cured her lifelong asthma, among many other things. However, it hadn't helped with her weight loss. The thing that I find really useful with Light Language is that as part of the grid creation process, you have to thoroughly think through

a) exactly what you want to achieve, and

b) exactly what's stopping you from getting it.

Symbol choice depends on whether the obstacle is genetic, environmental, societal, or otherwise; and your title has to narrow down exactly what you want, how much, and by when.  This analysis alone will help clarify and focus your thoughts.

So has Light Language changed my life?  Well, I don't think any one workshop skill can do that. But I've learned a new language, and I'm relieved to finally know how to communicate by using my aura. The first big grid I wrote was for stopping my heart palpitations which I'd suffered from for a year due to a thyroid condition, and for some reason I haven't had palpitations for a week now, two weeks after the workshop. I can't wait to try writing grids for my family's health, my relationships, career and psychic development...
