I’ve just come back from a Four day “Trust Your Vibes, 6 Sensory Practitioner Workshop” with Sonia Choquette in Chicago and it was awesome!
She is so accessible and completely down to earth. I feel I’ve literally ‘transformed’ in those four days as that’s the soul appointment we made to move us forward on our journeys.
Sonia comes from a place of unconditional love and fosters that in all attendees to discourage judgement thus providing a safe place to completely open up. There was so much dancing and singing that at first I was completely out of my comfort zone, but it’s such an integral part of the four days you have no choice but to go for it.
I also figured well, I’m here and I’ve paid all this money, I may as well see how far I can push the boundaries of my self-conscious self and literally felt my heart opening as a result. Mark, the musician Sonia works with, guided us through some amazing chants, dances and meditations and I’ve learned how to use the sound of my own voice as a tool for releasing blocked energy.
Astonishingly, by the end of the four days I got to a point where I was bored if we had to sit for any length of time, my feet lightly tapping to the background music Sonia uses, itching to get to the ‘dancing part’. This was a good thing, apparently to be in the heart naturally involves moving, stretching, dancing and prevents us becoming ‘stuck’ in our emotions and it’s our natural default but social conditioning prevents us from being totally free to express ourselves through movement in everyday life.
Sonia’s personal devotion is to reconnect people to their joy and not only was the workshop light, humorous and great fun, for the first time at a spiritual workshop I met a group of people with whom I could totally be myself and have a great laugh with. We even drank alcohol a couple of nights! The whole rationale of Sonia’s is one I’ve long-held, that spiritual work is about joy, generosity of spirit and freedom rather than limitations.
Never again will I be happy attend a serious workshop with rows of people furiously taking notes as a speaker lectures from a stage. Sonia totally called us on that the first day – the ‘filter’ of taking notes is a distraction, a sign the ego’s trying to ‘make sense’ and therefore stay in the driving seat. Her rationale is simply to experience and ‘be’ the vibration of our choosing and witness the vibrations of others. There’s no room for academic study, we’ve simply got to breathe deeply and get ‘into’ the heart!
