Watermelon has been found to have some health benefits over and above its
natural high nutrient content.
A study conducted by The Florida State University
food scientists revealed that eating watermelon provided protection from
prehypertension which is a condition that develops prior to cardiovascular
disease.
Nine
prehypertensive subjects aged between 17 and 57 were chosen for the study in
which 6 grams of the L-citrulline/L-arginine amino acid gleaned from watermelon
extract was given every day over 6 weeks.
