I have a few questions regarding coffee cup readings. I accidentally wrote my questions as a comment elsewhere but I hope to reach you via email.

My first questions is regarding cup sizes. I read the answer you gave someone regarding the size of the coffee cup. My mother reads coffee cups and she is quite fantastic. More often than not, what she says comes true. We used to always do readings using the traditional straight side cups. But my mother's sight started getting worse some time ago so we have begun using tea cups (not mugs) instead because the mouth is a bit wider and she can see better. Does that skew the symbols by a lot?

Secondly, I read somewhere on the website that we are to drink the coffee, put the saucer on top, flip, shake, and let drain. That is not how Georgians (country, not state) do it. We tend to drink the coffee and then pour half in a direction facing us (this denotes the past) and the second half away from us (the symbols on this side indicate the future). Furthermore, for us, there is a section that indicates relatives and their futures. Is all this wrong or is it simply a form of reading that developed in that part of the world?

Thirdly, because of the way we pour, sometimes we see a line forming on the outside of the cup. The longer the line, the longer the trip we will take. For example, I live in New York City and am planning a trip to New Hampshire at the end of this month. For the last few weeks, every time I drink coffee, there is a small line that forms outside the cup. We have interpreted that as indicating my trip.

And lastly, sometimes my cup is extremely dark. My mother interprets that as a lot of worry coming my way. Is that what it indicates?

Did you read my book? I addressed these common issues in it.

 

Briefly, about size, the reply is really form my own personal experience, that yes the larger the cup is, the more differently the symbols are formed. of course you will see symbols, but to me they were !different" symbols and not as clear. Perhaps one can read the symbol in a different way. Normally, I take very small symbols to make up a more detailed story of the cup is trying to say. You can still look at large symbols and the general outlook of the cup, this will give you an over all  indication.

 

Dark grounds are simply dark grounds- too much coffee. Although traditionally, in our part of the world they used to say it is worry, or envy too! I simply do not think it is because this is how coffee is formed in a cup- you also have to think of the dynamic properties of fluid!

 

Long lines yes journeys.

 

Flipping it half way to the heart- and to the opposite side, up to you really. It is just my way that I found to work for me all the time. Keep it simple: swirl it few times, then flip it towards the heart.

 

Remember, I have suggested a template of what worked for me, but of course you can also use your template, which is one side represents the past and the other relatives and so on. keep practicing and see what works for you. that is what is great about reading coffee grounds- we can each start with a base and develop our onw style and method of what works.
