Bringing together people and groups worldwide.

A friend of mine recently drew my attention to the Parallel Community. She described them as " an Internet group who are bringing communities and groups from all around the world together so that they can help, learn from and inspire each other." They are also much more that. Truly a living example of what we can each do.

This could not have been more timely! Increasingly through my work, I feel the information that is coming through is universal: that communities is the future as way forward to "survive the change" that us and earth are going through; beyond 2012.

My friend wrote saying "many of us have been talking about how we see communities as being the way forward and we have 'seen' ourselves living in some form of community set-up in the years to come, whether it's as a group living together on the same land, or a group of us in close proximity in the same village creating a new form of community living.

The Parallel Community is a linking network and a platform where people can express and develop their positive contribution for change.

It is our collective responsibility to care for and have compassion for all life and the earth we live on - this is our starting point.

Millions of people across the world feel exactly as we do and we need to mutually support and connect with each other. This helps all of us get on with our work and make our voices heard.

The Parallel Community started in Cornwall in the southwest of Britain, and the network is spreading everywhere. We link up people and groups who otherwise work in isolation in their own areas and social circles.

Doing nothing is not really an option any more - John Watts.
