Last summer saw a mix of political violence and freak weather conditions in various parts of the world. Is it possible that violence and weather conditions are connected? Violence and negative thinking are degrees of the human emotional spectrum that stem out of fear; at the very least, fear of the unknown or the unexpected.

Fear has tremendous impact, both direct and indirect, on almost everything around us – not just on the individuals involved but potentially on the whole environment. When someone becomes the victim of any kind of abuse or suffering, the lives of others and the community around them are affected. On a wider scale, weapons used in wars, in any part of the world, have a lasting effect on the Earth as a whole.

 Dr. Jude Currivan’s recent book, The Wave, A Life Changing Journey Into the Heart and Mind of the Cosmos , is a call for waking up to the ‘scientific’ reality that we exist in a ‘unified universe’ where ‘the wave’ carries the vibratory effects of every action and thought affecting the whole of the cosmos (not just the part we exist in). This effectively makes all of us constantly involved in one way or another, and out negative actions have repercussions in ways we would not expect.

Spiritual authors from all over the world have explored this theory of universal awareness. The books of Murry Hope, psychic/astrologer, and writer on metaphysics, parapsychology, ancient beliefs and cosmic awareness, gives us valuable insights. In The Gaia Dialogues (Thoth Publications, UK 1995), and The Paschats and the Crystal People (1992), Hope gives us an understanding of the role of our planet Earth ( or Gaia) in the so-called “ quantum leap” of humanity when Gaia “will cleanse itself of this ‘cosmic virus’ that has been plaguing her”, in the same manner that we cleanse our body or microscopic organisms in order to heal. She argues that the ferocity of this ‘virus’ fed by ignorant.

London based Life Coach, Taymour Qabazard, proposes that we should, instead of placing blame, move away from of the victim mentality. I was touched when I read his article, entitled Delete The Victim, w here he asks a client of his, who had been abused and battered, how she coped. She replied: "No one has the right to change my life but me".  He then concludes his article by quoting L. Wilde: "Life is 10% what happens to us and 90% how we react to it".

So, what can we go? Mohamed, prophet of Islam said: “Whoever of you sees a wrongdoing should change it with his hand; if you cannot, then with his tongue; if he cannot, then with his heart.” In your heart and as often as you can, hold a thought and a prayer for the universe so that it may find its harmony.

Pointers to Universal awareness

• Achieving your own inner harmony directly affects the universal harmony.
  
  
• Recognize your fears or negative thoughts and then ‘let them go’ by breathing them all the way out, allowing the universe to balance them.
  
  
• Imagine ‘seeing’ your fears and troubles, as though you are looking out from a window. Close that window, and then see all concerned happy and joyful.
  
  
• By sending out loving thoughts, instead of worrying, you are helping loved ones, others, and planet Earth heal.
  
  
• Remember that negative energy can damage everyone and everything around you.
