Dear All,
It’s official, we are now in 2011, and December 2010 has been declared as the coldest month that England has had since the Met Office records started in 1910. Many of us experienced a “White Christmas”, before Christmas! A part from the ever changing and globally challenging weather conditions, wherever you may be in the world; how has the past year been for you?
Have you been worried endlessly about matters that are outside your direct control? Have you been experiencing chaotic sleep pattern; waking up tired and sluggish, unmotivated to start your day? Or perhaps no matter how much self-control you used, everything seemed to be crumbling around you instead of moving forward? Maybe your body finally gave up trying to stay in control and gave in to irksome colds, chest infections, stomach flu and the like? Then join the club, in all likelihood you’ve experienced the symptoms of the evolutionary emotional changes that humanity as well as planet Earth has been going through.
On a personal note, it seemed to me that my life went through a whirlwind, and that things were simultaneously thrown at me from every direction, that I could not seek shelter, or move, in any direction. When the wind settled though, I realised that the landscape has changed!
Emotional, or spiritual, growth does not mean that your life will lack excitement, chaos, or that you will just exist in an oasis of calm. In fact as your senses become heightened you sense and react to changes in a more amplified way. The upside, however, of the next level of awareness, is that it allows you to recover much more quickly!
The way I understand it is that we are upon entering a new threshold, where we can no longer operate using the old ways of dealing with our lives, if they do not serve our highest good. It’s like “going through the eye of the needle” if you like, where you have to drop emotional baggage before you can move out of a limited or restricted existence into the vast expanse of infinite possibilities.
So, we have to face up to, or get in touch with, whatever needs to be addressed or changed; or else we’ll find ourselves being forced to do so. At the beginning, it may not seem to be all good; but it is probably what needed to happen to free our energy and redirect our focus onto our individual responsibilities and what we wish to create in our life instead. How? By being in touch with the heart.
The heart centre, if you like, is located between higher will, and personal will; it is “crucible of all (conflicting) energies” as Barbara Brennan describes it in her book Hand of Light- a Guide to Healing Through the Human Energy Field Amazon UK, Amazon USA. Rather than using personal will, or ego, to control or fore our way forward; the heart centre is balanced, it is a place of unity, or non-duality, where we can feel what is right and act upon it instantly.
Here’s how: Sit quietly and become aware of your physical body and of your feet firmly pressed on the ground. Relax your muscles as you breathe deeply and rhythmically. With your eyes closed, mentally look down at your heart centre and smile to it. Imagine or pretend making a connection with it and wait for it to respond. Make your experience tangible. Sense the space as you enter it. How does it feel like, does it need more light, space, etc.? As you breathe into it, feel your heart centre adjusting itself until it is perfectly right for you- a sanctuary where you feel loved and supported. Once you do, bring up an issue that you have mind and sense how your heart space responds to it. If it feels open and relaxed, then it is right; if it changes, contracts or feels uneasy; then it is not a choice for your highest good. Bring your attention back to your body, to your feet, wiggle your toes, and gently open your eyes.
