As I sit in London at the end of May, I look out on the blue skies and sunshine, and the forecast is for fine weather to continue for another few days. Well, it is often said that the British are obsessed with weather, and the reason for this is obvious: the British Isles lie in the North Atlantic and the weather systems which flow continually from west changes frequently and despite the best efforts of the UK Met Office, there is no certainty about conditions from one day to the next. Something that people who live in settled climes find difficult to understand.

Today, the forecasts that concern us all are about economic matters, financial storms, and the economics forecasts, are no more reliable than the British weather forecasts. They may be right about the next few days, but the next few months and years are unknown. For most of us, this represents a huge change in our perceptions. We have assumed that our economic future is as certain as the weather in Dubai, or Greece in the summer- long hot days; but we must now share the uncertainties of the British!

You don’t have to be a psychic to see that we are experiencing a terrible storm at present. It is also clear that we are not yet out of the storm and that it will continue to affect us all. Our goal today must be to survive the dangers of our time, to ensure our safety and be cautious. But let’s reflect on the benefits of storms and their long-term effects.

Some years ago, there was a great hurricane in southern England, thousands of ancient trees were uprooted and whole areas of woodland were flattened. When the fallen trees were removed, and the land was cleared, new views were opened up and new trees were planted; and in many cases the countryside looked better as result.

In a similar way, we need to think about how we will deal with the different world that we will see after this great world economic storm, how once we have cleared away the deadwood, we can improve things and how we can make things better. Above all, we cannot afford to focus on fear. But instead, always look to improve the things, to use new opportunities, to learn and grow.

Few may have felt this storm coming, and may have already started to adjust their lives accordingly. Many of my clients have been going through these changes, which to them seem like a personal and sudden change. But these micro, or personal changes, are part of the macro, or the worldwide changes that will affect all of us. For example, a newly unemployed banker decided to turn to farming and moved to countryside, a lawyer to making pottery, a hair dresser, to investing into developing her own line of natural and chemical free products, a textile engineer to developing her own line of organic cotton knitwear.

Many of my friends, who are already in the Holistic field, are also going through changes within their own field, in response to recent demanding times. US Naturopath, Karen Clickner, for example, who was here in the UK on a short seminar tour about Kangen Water ™, recently developed and launched The Waters Of Isis.

UK renowned and noted pioneer expert on nutrition and holistic health, Eric Llewellyn, recently launched AnimusHealth.com, the highest quality vitamin, mineral & herb supplements; which include anti-aging and cosmetic products.

Each of us can widen our opportunities to grow and we have to hold on to our visions even when the old is crashing down around us.

My point is also that many of us will find ourselves aligning what we do and how we do it with, dare I say it, the “higher good”; for these changes are also about bringing what we do and how we use earth’s resources into balance.
