What is Channelling? By Tony Neate

Channeling is about tapping in to your intuition, enabling you to enhance your creativity in a way that is right for you. It may help you to express yourself creatively in writing, designing a garden or a house, painting, - in fact anything that reflects the areas of creative imagination within yourself.
It is, for many people, a means of dealing with stuck issues, those feelings of frustration, not knowing where to go or what to do next. It is a skill, which everyone can learn and benefit from. Channelling is an extension of your awareness, allowing you first to become aware of your intuitive self and later to become sensitive to subtler levels of consciousness.
It may work for you on a spiritual level, enabling you to be in touch with your higher Self, and possibly beyond that, contacting higher and more sensitive levels of wisdom.
Channelling always requires discretion, caution, and humility. As my own guidance, H-A, has so often said: “The moment of finding your importance is the moment of losing it.” Sadly, for many, channelling can become an ego trip – so be aware of those areas of delusion – they can come from within or from without.
Many years ago, I recognised it as a very valuable addition to counselling and psychotherapy, because it helps all those issues that seem to prevent fulfilment in your life, on a totally different level.
The psyche, the emotions and the body are all interconnected and what we feel emotionally and the dis-eases that present themselves in our bodies, all affect each other. So, easing and opening up the intuitive nature of ourselves will help to create clarity in our emotions and show us the way to create balance in our physical body.
Channelling can help you to:
· Access your ideas and wisdom intuitively
· Develop your creativity
· Amplify and focus your ability to make choices in your life
· Increase your self-confidence and find new levels of self-empowerment
· Take charge of your life
· Bring real benefits to daily living
· Create another dimension of experience
In my experience, everybody can channel on some level. It’s not about becoming a medium in the accepted sense; it’s about becoming more aware, being more in touch with your higher Self and therefore being able to make decisions more easily.
It may just help you to do your job more effectively; it may help you to develop wider depths of understanding and thus begin to care more for the world around you, appreciating on many levels why people behave the way they do.
But, like any other course of behavourial being in your life, you need to understand how to do it. As I am fond of saying – it’s like crossing a busy main road, it’s perfectly safe if you know the Highway Code and look both ways. You are widening your areas of perception and therefore opening yourself to both good and bad energies.
I’d like to offer 3 very basic exercises that can enable you to go forward in your life in a safe, balanced and focused way. These are Cleansing, Balancing and Protecting:
Cleansing
1. Sit down (or you may prefer to stand) and relax. Visualise a large circular garden sieve, which you hold between both of your hands. It has a mesh that can sieve out whatever your mind determines.
2. Starting beneath your feet, bring the sieve up slowly through your subtle bodies, chakras, physical body, mind and aura, sieving out, firstly, any unwanted physical ailments, cells, etc., secondly, any unwanted feelings or emotions and thirdly any unwanted thoughts and psychic dross. Bring the sieve slowly above your head. As you do so, imagine that you are closing a trapdoor above your head in order that the contents of the sieve cannot re-enter your being.
3. After closing the trapdoor, empty the contents of the sieve into a bag, seal it and send it off into the universe (the sun or an appropriate symbol), to be transformed into positive energy. It is important that this is done with a loving thought.
4. Repeat the exercise three times, each time using a sieve with a finer mesh. The last time, the sieve’s mesh will be so fine that it will be like a coffee filter.
If you prefer to sieve down from the head to the feet, rather than upwards, that is your choice.
Balancing
Here are a couple of suggestions on how to balance and align yourself
1. Hold your hands together as if you are praying. Hold them fairly low so that you can feel the bottom of the palms of your two hands pressing together really tightly. You will feel yourself coming together, realigning on all levels.
2. Imagine you are focusing a camera lens, bringing the picture into sharp focus. That picture is of you as a whole person, with each part of you (subtle bodies, chakras, mind, physical body and aura) in complete alignment.
