Creating a World Without Poverty - A Talk by Muhammad Yunsus in London

Two weeks ago we announced that Muhammad Yunus, winner of the 2006 Nobel Peace Prize, would be speaking in Bristol on Sunday, February 17.

And now an extra event has been added: in London, at 2.30pm on Saturday, February 16, Prof. Yunus will be talking at St. James's Church in Piccadilly. Both events can be booked here now. (A third talk will be given at the LSE on Feb. 15. Bookings for that open on Feb. 7)

This visit of Prof. Yunus is hugely significant. Following on from his tour of the US and his visit to Davos - both earlier this month - it could mark the beginning of a new social movement as significant as that of microcredit, which Yunus launched when he founded the Grameen Bank in Bangladesh 30 years ago.

In his new book, Creating a World Without Poverty, he envisages a future where business could make a serious contribution to ending poverty. Yunus has done as much as anyone on the planet to further this aim.

Having seen micro-lending banks established in over 100 countries and lending to 100 million families, he is now on a mission to see that 'social business' - business designed to meet a social rather than a financial goal - becomes the next global development.

Please join us, in Bristol or in London, to welcome and honour one of the world's great visionaries. Tickets are £6 (£4 concs) and both events can be booked online at -

http://www.bethechange.org.uk - or, for Bristol only, at the St. Georges box office (0845 40 24 001).
