Taptastic ! The Magic of TFT

"Magic is nothing more than unknown science"- Anonymous

Imagine for a moment if you could simply eliminate the effects of past traumas, love pain, fear, anxiety, anger, guilt, depression and some addictive urges in a matter of minutes.  Well, you can stop imagining now because you can!

What do Paul McKenna, Cherie Blair, Greg Rusedski and many other celebrities have in common?  They are all avid users of Thought Field Therapy.  Thought Field Therapy® (TFT) was created and developed by Dr. Roger Callahan – also known as the Callahan Technique ®.  It is by far one of the most effective tools I use in my personal and executive coaching practice to help clients who feel blocked and held back by past traumas or emotions that prevent them from moving forward.  It’s fast, effective and somewhat miraculous.

TFT is a fascinating methodology that involves the tapping of different points on the energy meridian to neutralise Perturbations in our thought field. These Perturbations are merely disturbances or blocks that occur in our thought field, resulting in emotional upset and pain.  The series of tapings that TFT uses simply collapse these Perturbations thus eliminating emotional upset and liberating the client from the psychological cell they were imprisoned in.  So, one can recall a bad experience or unpleasant memory, but feel distant and remain emotionally in control while thinking about it.

These series of tapings are know as Algorithms in TFT, and for every condition there is series of Algorithms that are targeted at collapsing the disturbance in the thought field.   I recently had a client who was absolutely haunted by the trauma she had been through back in the 1960’s.  She had been to therapists and counsellors, but nothing freed her from the vivid memories she had from that horrible episode.  For over 40 years she was distraught due to her traumatic experience.  In a matter of ten minutes I applied the appropriate algorithm and suddenly the tears stopped, and a look of shock followed.  I stopped and asked immediately if she was alright – naturally she worried me a little bit.  Her reply was: “What did you just do?  This is amazing……the sadness has lessened!”

This was music to my ears, as I knew we had a breakthrough.  We carried on with the set of majors (or algorithmic sequence) until we virtually eliminated the emotional upset she felt whenever she tuned into that thought (or trauma).   TFT is such an effective treatment that after the 1990’s genocide in Kosovo, out of 249 traumas treated, 247 were treated successfully in a short period of time with TFT.

After several visits to Kosovo, Dr. Skkelzen Syla, the equivalent to the surgeon general of Kosovo has made TFT the official therapy of Kosovo.  TFT works on creating results quickly.  The client in many cases needn’t go into depth and talk in detail about their experience or emotional pains; all they need to do is tune into the thought that upsets them while the treatment is applied.

Most of my clients find TFT strange, even bizarre.  It is unlike anything they’ve experienced before and frankly they don’t know what to make of it.  My task is not to give them a long and boring lecture on how it exactly works, though sometimes I do give them a quick summation of its school of thought, my primary goal is to eliminate the emotional upset and then get on with the coaching session and help them set the right goals in order to move forward.  Even cynics and non-believers in TFT have come round.  I have heard all sorts of comments, but the bottom line is – it works!

One formal investigation, conducted in early 1995, by Charles R. Figley, Ph.D. and Joyce Carbonell, Ph.D. of the Psychological Stress Research Program and Clinical Laboratory at Florida State University yielded impressive results in the treatment of Post Traumatic Stress Disorder.  Figley reports that: TFT stood out from all other approaches of which I am aware because of five reasons:

1.     It is extraordinarily powerful, in that clients receive nearly immediate relief from their suffering and treatment appears to be permanent.

2.     It can be taught to nearly anyone so that clients can not only treat themselves, but treat others affected.

3.     It appears to do no harm.

4.     It does not require the client to talk about their troubles, something that often causes more emotional pain and discourages many from seeking treatment.

5.     It is extremely efficient (fast and long lasting).  ©www.thoughtfieldtherapy.net

As a coach, I use classic coaching techniques mixed with NLP and Thought Field Therapy, to help my clients move forward in their lives.  However, I have to confess that the effectiveness of Thought Field Therapy is mind boggling, even to a qualified practitioner such as myself.  It is a revolutionary method that is result based, not to mention quick and painless; no needles no drugs - just relief.
