Saturn’s move into Libra!

Saturn’s move into Libra will be a welcome relief for the mutable signs of Virgo, Gemini, Sagittarius and Pisces who have all had a testing time over the last couple of years. It is now the turn of the cardinal signs (Aries, Cancer, Libra and Capricorn) to experience the zodiac taskmaster who’ll be on their case at some point over the next 2 ½ years. These signs will need to rise to the challenge and take on additional responsibilities.

However, Saturn is exalted in Libra, so its effects are not so harsh. Giving and taking, fairness, co-operation and compromise will be the key themes for all of us in 2010. Saturn urges us to take more responsibilities for our actions and how they impact on others, so we should all start to consider others more. Whilst touring the sign of Libra, relationships will be a focus as we are all urged to take them more seriously and consider our commitments. There may be some changes in the legal system and government policy over marriage and co – habitation. There is an underlying need to balance the political and socio – economic scales in the UK, so that fairness prevails.

Socio – economic and political outlook – Saturn, Uranus & Pluto!

Three of the outer planets Saturn, Uranus and Pluto are squaring up to each other during 2010 and battling it out. Similar planetary line ups occurred during the early 1930’s marking the onset of the Great Depression and aftermath of the 1929 crash. In light of what history tells us, the economic and political difficulties of the last few years will come to a head this year, as the chickens come home to roost. We are likely to have a tough year economically with financial & credit shortages and rising unemployment. With the north node in Capricorn, interest rates should remain low and house prices too.

In business, outdated practices and old structures will continue to collapse if they are not willing to change or adapt to new circumstances. Saturn and Uranus opposing each other suggests that those who are not afraid of the future or of changing to adapt to new working methods, technology or adopting new approaches and ways of thinking, will be the zodiac winners. Change, innovate and adapt or die is the message here!

We may see the start of pioneering new manufacturing industries this year. There will be pressure on the food retailers, water and energy companies to be fairer to their suppliers and customers. As we are encouraged to become more self sufficient, we may see a growing trend towards gardening, allotments and food co-operatives as people want to grow their own. Fair trade products will do well, but demand may outstrip supply.

These planets also got together in the late 1960’s when we experienced civil unrest over the Vietnam War and segregationist policies in South Africa. Civil unrest over the war in Afghanistan and instability in the Middle East may escalate, as groups in society rebel and demand a peaceful resolution. The wars may come to a head this year.

2010 is likely to bring a time of socio – economic and political change as it’s out with the old and in with new. Although Gordon Brown’s popularity (Gordon is a Pisces) may be on the rise during the early part of 2010, it is likely to be short lived. A new government and new wave of politicians is likely and David Cameron has a good chance of taking the helm. Being a Libra, the leadership planet Saturn is heading towards his Sun this year and giving him a position of authority. A shift in the style of leadership will be more Libran, so focusing on fairness, co-operation and diplomacy. New economic & tax policies are on the cards, advocating less reliance on the state and more on “taking care of your own”. We may also see new laws or policies governing energy supplies and water.

Times are changing – Jupiter & Uranus!

Both Jupiter and Uranus meet up in the skies this Summer at 0 degrees Aries, the first degree of the zodiac marking the beginning of a new era as times are changing. Exciting new developments and inventions will come this year in the fields of technology, energy and travel (air flight or space). It is not beyond the realms of possibility that we could see the use of food waste or nuclear energy as a fuel. Medical breakthroughs are likely, especially those relating to the head, brain, eyes and face and we may witness cutting edge technology in new surgical procedures and anti ageing treatments.
