The start of something good?

SUPERMARKET GIANT MAKES HUGE COMMITMENT ON ANIMAL WELFARE

Fantastic news!  We are extremely pleased to announce that following pressure from animal welfare campaigners, Sainsbury's - one of the biggest   UK  supermarkets has announced that it will  improve 70 million lives a year by refusing to stock the most intensively farmed chickens.

A huge step forward for animal welfare.  The supermarket giant has announced a move away from stocking factory farmed chickens across their entire chicken range and will instead adopt Freedom Food standard or equivalent as the minimum.

Challenge your supermarket

Take action now by urging other UK supermarkets to stop selling meat from factory farmed chickens

Sainsbury's have proved that change is indeed possible.   By clicking on the link above you can help bring pressure on Tesco, Somerfield, Asda and Morrisons to change hundreds of millions of animal lives.

"This will dramatically improve the lives of 70 million chickens every year and is one of the most significant moves in farm animal welfare in the   UK."

Dr.   Lesley Lambert, Compassion in World Farming Director of Food Policy

If you want to buy chicken that has led a decent life visit  www.ciwf.org/chickens  - the home page for our meat chicken and egg laying hens.

It takes time, money and persistence to outlaw cruelty to animals. We want to change attitudes to farming and food production.   If you agree that farm animals should not and need not suffer, please consider supporting our work with a donation today.
